Eric Kandel and idea of learning and memory

Eric Kandel located memory in the synapse. If you learn something that learning is stored in synapse in the form of protein. This is visible. This was a radical finding as far as idea of learning or memory goes, for this Eric Kandel was decorated with the Nobel prize.

To view such memory in human brain would have been complex, because a living  human brain is naturally not available easily for experimentation. He choose simple invertebrate call Aplysia. Many mechanisms of Aplysia brain are similar to that of vertebrate human. Such extensive similarity of working of Aplysia memory system and human memory is in itself  stunning.

Aplysia could learn, and methods of learning in human are similar to that of Aplysia. Sensitization, classical conditioning, Habituation are three form of learning. These three forms unfold in complex human brain, likewise a simple Aplysia could also learn using these three methods.
